How Cooking Classes Can Connect Farm to School

Betsy Stacey, BEAMS Afterschool Director at Brattleboro Area High School and Lonny Paige, Food Service Director for the Twin Valley Schools will be will be leading this workshop about how teaching cooking can inspire students to understand more about farming and nutrition, as well as gaining valuable life skills.  Betsy’s presentation
will focus on the middle school’s afterschool cooking clubs, which include Food 05301, Chinese Cooking Club, and Kitchen Chemistry.  Lonny will highlight how the Jr. Iron Chef program introduces students to local foods and the benefits of working with the students in the cafeteria kitchen.
